Customs clearance requirements for exporting goods to Qatar

The main ports in Qatar are Doha and Hamad. Currently, only WHL and YML are the shipping companies that can ship by sea to these two ports.

Documents to be submitted for customs clearance in Qatar:

1. The original Commercial invoice with the title and seal of the consignor company is required. The original Commercial invoice must be certified by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and countersigned by the Embassy of Qatar in China. The contents of the Commercial invoice include: invoice number and date, product value, product unit price, currency (currency), quantity, net weight and gross weight, place of origin, chamber of commerce certificate, embassy endorsement, and shipping terms.

2. Original named ocean bill of lading. During customs clearance, the bill of lading must be endorsed and signed, and the original documents mentioned above must be submitted. Any incomplete submission of documents will result in customs charges of 1% of the CIF price or 500 Qatari dollars.

Precautions:

Qatar Customs now implements 100% strict inspection of goods upon unpacking, and any errors in documents will result in customs fines. If the true Commercial invoice and certificate of origin countersigned by the embassy are not submitted; Not accurately and truthfully declaring every product. This will result in the entire batch of imported goods being detained by customs.

The following are common errors that often lead to customs detention of imported goods:

1. No country of origin label on any goods

2. The origin label is unclear or blurry and detached.

3. The price of Commercial invoice is too low and untrue.

4. Low declared sea freight.

5. The declaration of Commercial invoice and freight is inconsistent

6. The declaration of Commercial invoice and certificate of origin is inconsistent

7. The customs declaration documents and the inspected goods do not comply

8. Several Commercial invoice with the same invoice number are used in the declaration of the same batch of products.

9. Imitation products

10. The country of origin is ambiguous and inaccurate.

Once the goods are detained by the customs, it is necessary to wait for 4-6 weeks for the customs to handle them. In this case, the excess warehouse rent fees and customs fines for this batch of goods must be borne by the consignee. This will bring great economic losses to importers.

Other precautions:

Qatar air freight has a 5-day rent-free period upon arrival at the port. Customs clearance is required within this time frame. Failure to do so will result in a daily warehouse rental fee of US D0.55/KG.
